You've tried everything.
You're still stuck.

Learn. Heal. Grow.

I'm John Westhaver, a Safety and Resilience Expert. I work with companies and individuals to uncover the default beliefs driving their behaviour, heal what installed them, and grow the new patterns that strengthen safety, performance, and productivity.

Learn. Heal. Grow.

In 1994, a car crash killed three of my friends and left me with burns over 75% of my body. I was eighteen. What I learned in the thirty-plus years since became the foundation for my life's work as a Safety and Resilience Expert.

23+ years. 850+ presentations. Clients include ICBC (partner since 2002), Manitoba Public Insurance, Saskatchewan Government Insurance, Veren Inc., Encana Corp., Permian Road Safety Coalition, Alberta Fire Chiefs Association, and the New Brunswick Department of Education. Two national awards: the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 and the Coast Mental Health Courage To Come Back Award in 2017.

The framework is not retrospective. I am still using it on myself, every day, as my wife Brianna walks through stage 4 colon cancer treatment. The work is active. It is honest. And it does what it claims to do.

The standard approaches haven't worked. There's a reason.

The safety training has been delivered. The wellness program is in place. The assembly was booked, the leadership offsite is scheduled, the resilience workshop is on the calendar. And the same patterns keep coming back. Incidents repeat. Burnout returns. Students keep slipping through the cracks. The wound keeps running the show.

The problem isn't a lack of programs. The problem is what's underneath the programs. Most of what drives us is invisible to us. You can't change what you can't see. And that is the part most programs never touch.

The framework

Real change has a sequence.

The beliefs you carry shape the life you live. Some serve you. Some don't. Most you've never examined. Learn Heal Grow is the path. Same path whether you're recovering from a hard chapter, leading a team, or building a safer workplace. The order is the work. Awareness first. You cannot skip steps.

Phase 01, Awareness

LEARN

What beliefs are driving you? Most of what runs us is invisible to us. Learning is the practice of seeing what's been operating in the dark. You can't change what you can't see.

Phase 02, Processing

HEAL

What do you need to heal so it stops running your life? You cannot outrun what you haven't faced. Awareness alone doesn't shift deep patterns. The wound has to be addressed.

Phase 03, Thriving

GROW

Who are you becoming? Practice, repetition, new responses, until a new automatic replaces the old one. Growth is training who you want to be until that becomes who you are.

The practical doorway

The 60-Second Reset is a free interactive tool you can use the moment you feel stuck or lose momentum. It uses past hardships as fuel and evidence, without getting stuck in them. Sixty seconds to shift where your momentum is heading.

I had the pleasure of having John Westhaver speak at a company wide safety event. From the start of the process, deciding which topics to drive home to the audience, through the lead up to the event and post-event review, John was in tune with our want and needs. His delivery is genuine, his desire for others to learn from his experiences is heartfelt, the tools he provides are effective and easy to implement and his explanation of why we remain trapped in 'believing the lies' is both insightful and relatable. I would not hesitate to recommend retaining John as a speaker for your event.

John is also a phenomenal coach. After our call, I walked away with a renewed sense of calm, clarity, and optimism for what's possible.

What becomes possible when the belief stops running the show.

A workforce that sees the belief operating before the incident happens. Leaders who can name the pattern instead of performing through it. Students with language for what they are carrying and a way to put it down. Individuals living from a foundation that no longer leaks.

Real change is not a moment. It is a sequence. Awareness first. Healing next. New patterns last. That is the path. It works.
